Lord it is hard to get this updated wit ha baby in the house...

Katie is load of fun. She giggles and is really beginning to show her personality! Her favorite thing to do is to lay on her back and kick kick kick... she just giggles and coos the whole time.

She will stick her tongue out when we sing “little green frog” and she squeals when we say “look at me I’m so big I’m as big as a tree” and hold her hands above her head.. then she just giggles!

Being a mom is the most rewarding job! At first I was a bit overwhelmed and not sure about her... now she is just the joy of my life!

Alan is amazing with her! He actually get up and does the 5am duty.. most of the time allowing me to sleep a little longer... He likes to read her bedtime stories and giver a bath (her favorite thing!!) I can see the love and joy in his face every time he looks at her.

The first few months are hard mostly because you are learning what to do and happen to be very sleep deprived. Somedays you think “what was I thinking” But to any soon to be parents and to those considering becoming parents.. no matter what, having a child is worth every sleepless night, diaper change (and clothing change for you...) and screaming fit throwing moment.. it all melts away when they give you a great big smile!

Being a parent is the best thing ever! Alan might even say better than brownies...!!!
Nothing like moving... nothing like being FORCED to move... nothing like being FORCED to move out of the home you were promised was not going to be renovated until “way after you leave”...

Yep! We got a notice on our door a few weeks back mentioning that the home we are living in is up for renovation. Granted it is about 30 years old.. but frankly it is in pretty good shape. Everything works.. most of the time. It is pretty clean.. that is after I take bleach to the mold growing in the window sills and bathrooms (ah reality on a tropical island) once a month.. and the location is not to bad (bottom of a hill surrounded by jungle).

Still it is home and has been for nearly 2 years. We were offered two home when we moved here. One was slated for renovations within 6 mos of moving in (we declined it) and the other.. was “guaranteed” not to undergo renovations until 2012.. as I have learned being a military wife.. nothing is guaranteed... EVER~ We just hoped it would not happen. Oh and the home we turned down.. still waiting to be renovated and well it is not looking good. Turns out they are going to tear down that home once the current occupants PCS.. AH!

So.. I have been patiently waiting to get a call to say they have a place for us to move. We had to turn in a questionnaire that stated when a good time for us to move might be.. good and move have no business in the same sentence! Ours said early July (even though Alan may have been gone, my mother was going to be here) NOT late July.. mid August and then late September on...

Again... military spouses learn nothing is guaranteed. Wednesday I took my mother to the Airport. Alan is still TDY so it is just me, Katie, Reagan and a broken wrist.. that is another story.

Thursday housing called and said “we have a house for you...” SERIOUSLY??? I explained that my husband was TDY, I have a 2.5 mo old and a broken wrist... could this wait until he gets home on Saturday. Lola is a nice woman and said sure... but I cannot guarantee we will have something for you then.. HUH? Whatever.. so I said I would have to discuss it with my hubby.. also, I don’t have a POA to move.. don’t usually need one until you PCS, so I am unable to accept or decline an offer.

I spoke with Alan and we know that we do not want to live off base. To complicated and we are not here that much longer.

Today Lola called and said she needed to offer me the home and that I would have until close on Monday to give an answer.

Keep your fingers crossed Alan will actually make it home this weekend... with AWACS anything is possible, but just as impossible!

So, I stopped by the housing office this afternoon and picked up the keys to go an take a look. The good news is that it is one of the newly renovated units and they are a bit larger than what we have now. They added a dining room and more storage.. can’t complain about that! The negative about the place is that it is an end unit which means more lawn to mow... also the unit is the exact opposite of what we are in now.. talk about confusing. let’s just hope in the middle of the night when I get up to check on the baby I remember to turn the other way... if not... I may take a spill down the stairs. YIKES!

Oh well.. more to follow later on this story.

Eat, play, sleep. She is not mobile yet so she is not getting to messy during the day.

One thing we have noticed... no matter how fussy she gets she mellows when she is given a bath. She LOVES her bath time!

As soon as she hits the water she coos and giggles and gives us the happiest smile. Thank goodness she enjoys this time...

More photos and hopefully a video soon!
